Penny keeps standing context in Core and specific information in Notes. Choosing the right place helps your connected AI use the information at the right time.
Core holds facts and instructions that matter across many conversations. Examples include what you do, a standing preference for short answers, and how you want your assistant to behave. When an AI calls Penny’s session-start tool, Penny returns this core context without requiring a note search.
Notes hold information you would look up when a subject returns: a decision, a meeting outcome, a useful explanation, or the reasoning behind a plan. A saved note needs to be retrieved before the AI can use it. Saving a note does not put its entire contents into every future chat.
To inspect both:
- Open Core to review your standing context.
- Open Notes to browse or search specific memories.
- Ask your AI to save a lasting preference in core memory and a particular decision as a note.
For example: “Keep my preference for brief answers in core memory. Save today’s decision and its reasons as a note.” Check the dashboard afterward to confirm the two records say what you intended.
