Use your own Penny account in each app. Installing a public plugin does not connect you to anyone else’s account.

Use these sources for current instructions. Don’t guess settings, tool names, download links, or installation commands.

1. Identify the app and environment I’m using, and check what you can actually configure. If you can’t tell, ask which app and device I’m on. Do supported setup steps yourself. When I need to click, sign in, or approve access, give me the shortest instructions for that step, then continue.

2. Reuse any existing Penny connection and skill. Prefer an official production Penny plugin that includes both, when available for this app. Otherwise connect the remote MCP server:

   Preserve my other settings and avoid duplicate connections. If this environment doesn’t support MCP, explain the limitation and the nearest supported setup.

3. Guide me through Penny sign-up or sign-in and the client’s official authorization flow. Use my existing Penny account across apps so they share the same memory. Keep passwords and access tokens out of chat and logs. Don’t purchase anything or change my subscription.

4. Install and enable the latest complete Penny operating skill using this app’s supported mechanism.

   For standalone installation, after connecting and authorizing, use penny_get_skill with view "install" if available. Verify the returned archive and file hashes where supported.

   For plugin-managed skills, use the official plugin update mechanism. Preserve the skill’s metadata and references; don’t replace it with a summary or edit plugin caches.

   If complete skill installation isn’t supported, use a supported persistent-instructions mechanism to load the current official Penny guidance at conversation start. Preserve my existing instructions and clearly label this fallback.

   If no persistence mechanism exists, say that setup is limited to this conversation.

5. Read the installed skill and call penny_session_start once for this conversation, reporting installed-skill metadata when its live schema supports it. Follow the returned guidance.

   Use the available first-run setup flow for a new account. Reuse an existing profile without repeating onboarding.

   Use only attached tools and supported arguments. If tools are missing, follow this app’s documented reload or reconnect process.

6. Explain briefly that information saved to Penny can be retrieved by AI apps I authorize, and retrieved information enters the requesting AI’s context.

   Ask for one low-sensitivity fact I want remembered. Save it privately using the appropriate Penny tool, then read it back through Penny.

   Follow my memory preferences. Don’t import past chats or share information to a workspace as part of setup.

7. Start being useful immediately: ask what I’d like help with first and use the Penny skill’s guidance as we work.

   Establish its startup, recall, and saving behavior through the app’s supported skill or instruction settings.

Finish with a short status:
• Connection and authorization.
• Skill version and persistence method.
• Which memory tests passed.
• Any remaining step.

Reading a web page or listing tools isn’t proof that my memory works.

Then give me a simple fresh-chat test to confirm Penny is used and the saved fact can be retrieved. Treat cross-conversation setup as unverified until that test succeeds.
