You do not need to remember a note’s exact wording to look for it. Start with its subject, a distinctive name, or the question the note would answer.
Open Notes and use Search notes & memories. For example, try “why we chose a workshop” or the name of the project. Open a result to read the complete note before relying on its preview.
If you cannot find it:
- Choose All in the author controls. Mine shows notes you wrote; Captured includes notes saved by AI or an import.
- Clear selected tags that may be narrowing the list.
- Open Search filters and check the From and To dates and the Confidence setting. A restrictive filter can exclude an otherwise relevant note.
- Try a shorter query or a distinctive phrase from the original information.
- Check Hidden or Trash if the note was hidden or deleted.
You can ask a connected AI: “Search my Penny notes for the workshop decision. Read the relevant note and tell me when it was saved.” This asks for a retrieval, rather than a guess from the current conversation.
“Search failed” means the search request did not complete. Retry the request; that message does not establish that your note is missing.
