Tags help you gather notes about a subject. Links help you move between two notes that have a useful relationship, such as a decision and the explanation behind it.
In Notes, open a note and use the tag picker beneath the editor. Reuse an existing subject tag where it fits, then save. A tag such as workshop-planning groups a topic you may return to. Keep dates, temporary status, and one-off reference numbers in the note text rather than turning each into a new tag.
Select a tag in the Library sidebar to browse its notes. Selecting another tag narrows the list to notes that contain both. Remove a selected tag when you want to broaden the list again.
To link two personal notes:
- Open the note that needs the reference.
- Type
[[followed by words that identify the other note. - Choose the matching suggestion, then save.
- Open the link to check that it points to the intended note.
The referenced note can show Linked from so you can return to notes that point to it. You can also ask your AI to find both notes and add a link. Use links where the connection explains something; shared subject matter alone is usually enough reason for a tag.
