Using Penny

Save a note with your AI or in the dashboard

Capture a decision or useful fact, then confirm that Penny saved the right information.

Updated October 12, 2026

Save a note when you have something worth finding again: a decision and its reasons, an explanation you want to reuse, or the current state of a piece of work.

In a connected AI conversation, make the request specific. For example: “Save a Penny note that we chose the small workshop format, why we chose it, and the questions still open. Use our existing workshop tag.” Ask the AI to confirm the save rather than treating its written summary as proof that a note exists.

You can also create the note yourself:

  1. Open Notes.
  2. Select + New note.
  3. Write the information you want to keep. Include the subject, the decision or fact, and enough context to make it useful later.
  4. Add subject tags if helpful, then select Create.
  5. Reopen the saved note and check its wording.

A useful note is usually a short, self-contained record. Include an event date in the text when it differs from the date you saved the note. Put an action that still needs doing in Tasks, rather than expecting a note to act as a to-do.

If a save reports an error, keep your draft and check whether the note was saved before retrying. Ask the AI to read back the record when you need to verify a save.
