A useful handoff lets a second AI app continue from confirmed work without making you explain the decisions again. Save the current state in Penny, connect the next app to the same Penny account, and ask it to retrieve the relevant records before proceeding.
Penny carries the information saved to it. It does not transfer an entire chat, open browser tabs, files, credentials, or the tools available in the first app. The next app may need separate access to a source or its own permission to act.
Save the handoff before switching
Imagine you are preparing a neighborhood drawing workshop. In the first app, you have chosen a 45-minute session with pencils and paper, drafted three exercises, and left the workshop date undecided. A useful handoff names the decisions, where the draft lives, what still needs a choice, and the next action.
Use your actual Project name in this prompt. If practicing with the workshop example, label its records as fictional practice data.
Prepare a handoff for my private Penny Project [Project name].
Read its current brief and the relevant saved resources first.
Show me a checkpoint with confirmed decisions and reasons, work completed,
where the current draft can be found, open questions, and the next action.
Distinguish saved resources from files that only exist in this chat.
Do not invent a URL, completion, owner, or deadline. Do not save yet.
After reviewing the proposed checkpoint:
Save the handoff I approved to this Penny Project, preserving unrelated
content. Update existing records rather than making another Project.
Retrieve its saved brief and the linked sources needed for the next step.
Tell me which draft or file I still need to provide to the next app.
Open Projects and inspect Progress and the checkpoint. Open linked notes or other resources when the exact source matters. A short preview is not a substitute for checking the complete record. For the workshop example, verify that the undecided date is still open and that “three exercises drafted” does not become “workshop finished.”
Resume in the second app
Follow the second app's installation instructions. Sign in to the same Penny account; if there are several matching Projects or Spaces, identify the intended one explicitly.
Use Penny to find my private Project [Project name].
Read its latest brief and the saved resources relevant to the next step.
Tell me the confirmed decisions, unresolved questions, and next action.
Name any file, source access, or permission you still need before continuing.
Do not change the Project or begin the next action yet.
Verify the handoff
Compare the answer with the dashboard. It should reflect the saved handoff rather than a plausible reconstruction. If the correct Project is missing, check the account, connection, and scope, then use recall troubleshooting.
Once the readback matches, authorize the next step in the new app. At the end of that session, save another checkpoint and verify it in the same Project. Project instructions and finding a saved note explain how to inspect the underlying records.
