Memory notes

Say it once. Every AI you connect can find it.

A memory note is something worth keeping, written by your AI with what another AI will need later: what was decided, by whom, and why. Any AI you connect can find it and update it when things change. You can read, edit, or delete every one.

Examples

What a note looks like

Your AI writes notes with the detail another AI will need to act on them later. A few from different parts of life:

Countertop

Countertop template is Thursday, Sep 17; install about two weeks after. Dana chose the white quartz with the grey vein over the solid white because it hides wear better. Mike Alvarez (Alvarez Home Renovation) is coordinating with the stone shop. If the slab is delayed, the backsplash tile install moves with it.

Q3 status deck

Priya needs the Q3 status deck by Friday for Monday's leadership review. Eight slides at most: customer feedback first, then roadmap changes, then risks. Use last quarter's template, but replace the title slide; she said it felt dated.

work

Parent-teacher conference

Ella's parent-teacher conference is Thursday, Oct 9 at 4:30 with Ms. Ortiz, room 112. Bring her reading log. Ask whether she's ready for the advanced reading group and how she's doing with long division, which has frustrated her at home.

family

Email style

Prefers client emails short and direct: two or three short paragraphs, a clear ask at the end, no exclamation points. Signs off with just "Sam." Can be more casual with longtime clients like Rosa at Loma Bakery.

preferences

Physical therapy

Physical therapy for a right shoulder strain from September. Exercises twice a day: wall slides, band rows, and external rotations, three sets of twelve. No overhead lifting until the recheck with Dr. Lin on Nov 12; stop any exercise that causes sharp pain.

Plumber

Teo is the plumber Mike recommended. He's coming Tuesday morning (moved from Monday) to look at the shutoff valve, whether the dishwasher line needs to move for the new layout, and whether the disposal lines up with the new sink drain.

Saving

Your AI saves what matters

When a conversation turns up something worth keeping, your AI saves it to Penny without being asked: decisions, dates, names, preferences, and the reasons behind them. Small talk and one-off questions don't become notes. When you want to be sure, say "save this in Penny."

Animation in ChatGPT: Dana mentions the countertop plans, ChatGPT saves them to Penny, and a Penny card reads Noted.
Animation: a note saved in ChatGPT on Tuesday; a week later Claude searches Penny, recalls two notes, and answers with the install date.
Finding

Any AI you connect can find them

Your notes live in your Penny account, not inside one chatbot. Mention something in ChatGPT on Tuesday, ask Claude about it next week, and Claude finds the note. Search works by meaning and by exact words, so "when does the countertop go in?" finds a note that says "install about two weeks after."

Keeping current

Notes change when the facts do

Correct something and your AI updates the note instead of adding a second one that disagrees with it. In the background, Penny compares new notes with old ones. It links related notes, merges duplicates, and marks a note as superseded when newer information replaces it.

Animation in ChatGPT: Dana corrects the plumber's day from Monday to Tuesday, and the Penny card changes from Noted to Note updated.
Animation: Dana saves a core memory in Claude, and the next chat, in ChatGPT, starts by loading her Core notes.
Core notes

A few notes every AI reads first

Most notes wait until a question calls for them. Core notes are the short set every connected AI reads at the start of each conversation: who you are, how you like things done, what you're working on, and any rules you've set. Say "save this as a core memory" in one app, and the next chat in another app starts with it.

Other connectors

Notes work with your other tools

If your AI is also connected to Gmail, Calendar, or Drive, it can check your notes before it drafts a reply or schedules something. Ask it to answer an email about a project, and it starts from what you've already decided.

Animation in Claude: it reads the contractor's email, searches Penny, recalls three notes, and saves a draft reply in Gmail.
Your dashboard

Every note is yours to read, edit, or delete

Chat is where you'll use Penny most, but every note is also in your dashboard. Search every note or filter by tag, edit the plain text so every AI you use gets the corrected version, and delete anything. A deleted note waits in Trash for 30 days in case you change your mind.

Things to try saying

These work in any AI you've connected to Penny, whatever you use it for.

"Save what you already know about me."

Your AI writes what it has already learned about you into Penny, so every AI you connect can start from it.

"Save the decisions we made in this chat."

Turns a long conversation into a few notes you can come back to.

"Save this in Penny."

Saves a note right away, for anything you want to be sure is kept.

"What do you know about me?"

Lists the notes Penny keeps about you, so you can check them.

"What have I told you about this?"

Finds your notes on whatever you're discussing, whichever app you saved them from.

"Check my notes before you answer."

Has your AI search Penny first, so its answer starts from what you've already decided.

"That's out of date. Update the note."

Fixes the note instead of adding a second one that disagrees with it.

"Save this as a core memory."

Adds it to your Core notes, which every connected AI reads at the start of a chat.

"Forget what I said about that."

Moves the note to Trash, where you can restore it for 30 days.

Questions about memory notes

Do I have to say "remember this"?

No. With Penny connected, your AI decides what's worth keeping during the conversation: decisions, names, dates, preferences, and the context around them. If you want to be sure something is kept, say "save this in Penny."

What's the difference between a note and a Core note?

Your AI searches your notes when a question calls for them. Core notes are a short set it reads at the start of every conversation, so the essentials are there before you ask: who you are, how you like things done, what you're working on, and any rules you've set. You can read and edit both in your dashboard.

Will ChatGPT and Claude see the same notes?

Yes. Your notes live in your Penny account, not inside any one AI. Every tool you connect reads from and saves to the same notes, so a detail you mention in ChatGPT is there when you ask Claude.

What happens when a note is wrong or out of date?

Tell your AI and it updates the note, or edit it yourself in the dashboard. In the background, Penny also marks older notes as superseded when newer information comes in, so conflicting notes get sorted out.

Can I delete a note?

Yes, from any connected AI or from the dashboard. A deleted note goes to Trash for 30 days. From there you can restore it or delete it for good, which removes it from Penny's database.

Who can see my notes?

Your notes are encrypted with AES-256-GCM in storage and in transit. Every time Penny's service decrypts your memory, it's on record in your dashboard and sealed into a public, tamper-evident log. We don't train on your data, and we only use AI providers that don't train on it either. Anything you say to ChatGPT or Claude is also seen by that company, under its own terms.
